A partnership that enhances your practice

Vet school covers medical and surgical management in depth. Orthotics and prosthetics barely comes up. Even the most experienced vets might see only a handful of applicable cases a year.

So it makes sense that mobility devices are not the first thing to come to mind or even make it to the list of available options you might suggest for your patients.

That's when OrthoPaws comes in. We partner with your practice so you can offer mobility solutions with confidence, backed by a partner who walks every step with you: candidacy, device selection, fabrication, fitting, and follow-up.

You do everything to improve your patients' mobility, but some cases need extra support.

Whether it's pre-surgery, post-surgery, or when surgery isn't an option, OrthoPaws provides the custom solutions they need.

Conditions we work with
CCL & cruciate ligament Achilles tendon Carpal & tarsal hyperextension Elbow instability Arthritis & joint instability Angular limb deformities Partial limb loss +more

Species: animals of all kinds, not just dogs.

Do you think my patient is even a candidate?

That's usually the first question, and it's the right one to lead with. Send the clinical history, diagnosis, any imaging, and media you have, along with your goals for the patient.

Refer a Case

How referring a case works

For vet professionals and rehab centers.

1

Submit the case online

Complete the case form with clinical history, diagnosis, any imaging, and media, no charge to submit. No phone call is required to get started, though Case Managers are happy to connect if you'd like to talk through your case or have questions along the way.

2

Case reviewed

A Case Manager reviews the case and replies with observations and next steps, typically within one business day.

3

Choose how casting and fitting happen

Three ways to do it, whichever fits the case:

Remote, nationwide & worldwide

Virtual consults and real-time guidance. Digital scanning means clinics outside the US don't need to ship a physical cast.

On-site at your practice

Local visits (~30 miles) for casting and fitting with your team.

Refer to our Palm Harbor clinic

We handle evaluation, casting, fitting, and follow-up in person, most convenient if you're nearby.

4

Fabrication and follow-up

Fabrication and quality review happen entirely on our end, whichever path you chose. We stay involved after that too, through function review and any adjustments needed.

The team behind every case

Clinical expertise, clear communication, and genuine availability.

Questions we hear most

Is there a cost to submit a case for review?

No, and there's no catch attached to it either. Send the case, get a Case Manager's read on it, decide from there whether it's right for this patient.

Is my patient a candidate for a custom device?

It depends on the case, and that's the honest answer. Every patient's situation is different, which is why a Case Manager looks at it personally instead of running it against a checklist. Send the clinical history, diagnosis, any imaging, and media through the case form, along with your goals for the patient. You'll get a straight answer within a day, including an honest one if it's not a good fit.

Does a custom device replace surgery?

Not necessarily. It can be used instead of surgery, alongside surgery, or as part of recovery after surgery, depending on the case. That decision stays with you and the patient's owner, we help you evaluate the option.

What if my clinic has never referred an orthotics or prosthetics case before?

That's common. We'll walk you through candidacy, device selection, and what to expect on this case, including how to talk with the family about it. Nothing about a first referral requires committing to more than that one patient.

Do you work with practices outside Florida, or outside the US?

Yes. Most of the process happens remotely, and digital scanning means clinics outside the US don't need to ship a physical cast. Our Palm Harbor facility is available when an in-person visit makes sense.

What's included beyond the device itself?

very case gets a Case Manager, from candidacy through fitting and the adjustments that come with the break-in period. After that, the same Case Manager stays your point of contact for as long as you're using the device, not a one-time handoff.
